so I headed back to the red beanbags in the library

and hid behind a book.

By the time I get home from school Anna and Tahnee and Lucy

I feel like a big storm

were there in the library too, is brewing in my head.

sitting at a table,

All day I have watched Nicole and Samira looking at the pictures in watching me.

a book about cats.

Poking out their tongues,

I wanted to tell them

passing notes,

that I like cats too

whispering behind their hands.

but they did not

In the car on the way home I don’t know how long I cry for Mum was still prattling.

but after a while I realise This time about her day at work Narelle is there

and about how Will didn’t have a sleep on the bed

at day care today

licking my face with her sandpaper tongue.

and about what we will have for dinner.

I slowly sit up and

She didn’t ask how my day was hug her to me

and I didn’t tell her.

and tell her all about

my day.

I am sure she is listening even if she can’t answer me.

Now, all I want to do is be alone.

I cry some more

I think the storm is about to break.

but I’m starting to feel a little bit better.

Narelle comes to greet me

Maybe I should have cried sooner.

but I don’t stop to pick her up.

Instead I hurry to my room, kick my bag across the room and throw myself onto the bed.

No one will see me here.

I cry

and cry

and cry

all the tears I have wanted to cry all day and some I didn’t know I had built up too.
